“What you chase often depends on who you think is watching.” – Bruhad Buch
The Exam Season Confession
He was 19. Bright, burnt out, and buried under expectations.
“I want to make it big,” he said.
When I asked why, his voice cracked:
“Because I don’t want to feel small.”
In that sentence lived his entire emotional syllabus:
Achievement as escape. Success as survival.
Many students aren’t building dreams, they’re running from fears they haven’t named yet.
Ambition is Loud. Aspiration is Deep.
Ambition says, “I want to be seen.”
Aspiration whispers, “I want to be true.”
We confuse the two.
One is about pace.
The other is about place — where your soul feels seen.
If you’re chasing a future just to outrun your past, it’ll never feel like yours.
The Assumption Trap
Students today are drowning in assumptions:
- I should know what I want by now.
- I must be successful by 25.
- I can’t afford to slow down.
But whose voice is that?
Parents? Peers? Instagram?
Every “should” needs an audit.
If you don’t question your assumptions, you’ll end up living someone else’s aspiration.
When Dreams Become Deadlines
I met a girl who quit design school to study finance.
“Why?” I asked.
“My dad said I’m not creative.”
What broke me wasn’t her choice.
It was how quickly she stopped believing she had a choice.
The system rewards speed, but what students really need is space.
A New Framework for Youth
If you’re a student, or guiding one, try this:
- Ambition: What do I want to achieve for the world to see?
- Aspiration: What would I still do if nobody applauded?
- Assumptions: What beliefs am I carrying that aren’t mine?
Before you choose your major, choose your meaning.
Let’s Align Your Drive
If you’re a student, mentor, or educator who’s tired of shallow career talks and deeper emotional confusion — this is your moment.
My coaching and workshops create safe, real spaces for students to discover their own why, not just follow someone else’s.
Let’s create a generation that doesn’t just hustle, but heals.
